      Many people describe Adriaan as a pleasant man to be around, perhaps a bit too playful and chummy at times, but there's a lot more to the eye. Adriaan is charming and is constantly using it in his favor to gain both favors from those he considers "interesting" as well as data from pretty much everything he can. Adriaan has absolutely no sense of pride and would gladly make a fool of himself in order to bait possible targets. He goes to great lengths for his gang, but not because he values his ties with them. In fact, Adriaan considers attachment to things and people something rather laughable, having detached himself from those a long time ago. What actually moves the man seems to be his desire to toy with people in various ways (most of them rather violent), which is his biggest source of amusement. As long as his "beloved family" supplies him with ways to end his boredom, he will supply them with his loyalty and skills, and he hides the fact from nobody.

History
      Born in Harlingen, Adriaan was part of an old family of fishermen. Life was simple and pleasant as he and his younger brother, Roel, learned the family trade. Unfortunately, things took a change for the worst when a scandal involving his father and the poisoning of a prosper fisherman led his family to relocate to Fårö, in Sweden. The event stirred up a distrust for his parents, making Adriaan take Roel's protection into his own hands. The brothers depended on each other and watched out for themselves for years. However, Adriaan's belief that he was his brother's hero made him blind to Roel's suffering at the hands of the other boys, who bullied him relentlessly. When he found out, Adriaan lashed out on them to protect Roel, which in turn prompted the bullies to teach him a lesson. Wanting to scare him, they set up a noose and brought Adriaan in, putting it around his neck for dramatic effect. However, their innocent prank got out of control when Adriaan tripped and was left hanging for a while until the desperate boys managed to get him down.
      The incident left Adriaan with a permanent scar around his neck and another in his personality. Despite his denial, his parents believed it was best for the whole family if he were to be away from his "traumatic past", and so Adriaan was sent to Yeavering to finish school and start anew. Feeling betrayed and abandoned, he simply cut ties with his family and did start anew, beginning his new life as a full-fledged gang grunt. It wasn't until he finished high school that he really did take a liking to the new life, seeing how his distrust, along with a nice personality and a few lies here and there could get him anywhere he wanted. As the years passed, the "trick" worked over and over again, and he soon saw himself in a high position in the Kuroi Neri, to his great amusement. The dutch man decided to stay and make a name for himself, see where it would get him and, so far, it has been fun.

    - He will come up with different stories about his life to pretty much everybody he meets. His favorite one is how he's actually the ghost of a man who had his head chopped off in 1676
